Who we are
Guatemala Hope is a ministry of Service of Light, a nonprofit religious organization based in Spokane, WA. Our Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 33-3908014. Guatemala Hope is the name under which Service of Light carries out its mission work in Guatemala.
Tax-deductible giving
Contributions to Service of Light are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for your donation unless otherwise stated at the time of your gift. You will receive an emailed receipt for every gift; please keep it for your tax records. We are not able to provide tax advice, so consult your tax professional about your specific situation.
How gifts are used
Gifts fund our work in Guatemala’s remote communities: meals, clean water, safe housing, church and community-center construction, children’s programs, and support for local leaders. See Our Work and Give for current priorities.
Gifts designated for a specific project or community are applied to that purpose whenever possible. If a project is fully funded, cannot proceed, or a need changes, Service of Light retains discretion to direct the funds to where they will do the most good within our mission. A portion of every gift may cover the reasonable costs of administering the ministry, such as payment processing and travel.
Payment processing
Online gifts are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s secure systems and are never seen or stored by us. Stripe charges a processing fee on each transaction, which is deducted from your gift before the funds reach us.
Recurring gifts
Monthly gifts continue until you cancel them. You can change or cancel a recurring gift at any time, without an account, by contacting us, or through the subscription-management link if your Stripe receipt email includes one.
Refunds
Donations are generally non-refundable once processed. If a gift was made in error, such as a mistaken amount, a duplicate charge, or an unauthorized transaction, contact us within 30 days and we will review and correct it where appropriate.
Donor privacy
We never sell, rent, or trade donor information. How we collect and use the limited personal information you share is described in our Privacy Policy.
Photos, videos, and stories
The photos, videos, and stories on this site come from our team and partners in the field. We share them to show the real people and places your gifts reach. In some cases names or details are changed to protect privacy. If you appear in any material here and would like it removed, please contact us.
